Back to Running
Well, trying to anyway. I ran 3 miles yesterday and my dumb new shoes made my foot hurt. It's hard to be motivated when your foot and leg aches from your run two days before. I have also discovered that running while listening to someone talk doesn't work. It has to be music. And sometimes music with no words is better. The theme from Rocky is a good song. Also, Jock Jams. However, that is only while on the treadmil. Outside - NO MUSIC! I can't run outside with headphones on for fear that someone or something is behind me and I can't hear them. (ie: big scary dog panting while chasing me down the street!) While very boring indeed, treadmill running is much safer than running in my neighborhood. Why do people have dogs??? And snow in April...don't even get me started.

Wow! That was a long unplanned break!
So I have been meaning to blog for several weeks now and never get around to it. Life has been crazy! With Ryan home over the Christmas break I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him. Now that he is back to school I am going through my normal adjustment and mourning period of never seeing him and feeling his stress on a day to day basis. I miss him!! I can't wait for August to come and to have him around more. I guess that is a good thing that after 10 and 1/2 years of marriage I still love to have him around all the time.
It is a 4 day weekend for our kids and I can't wait for them to go back to school. Winter is so hard. They get stir crazy so fast!! I get nothing done and today it is snowing way to hard to go anywhere! Must be time to get creative! Board games anyone??

Motherhood is harder than it seems.
I am a good mother, really! So, Makai fell out of the cart at Costco yesterday. I am mostly to blame for not buckling him in like I ALWAYS do. I don't know what I was thinking. Brian had a hand in it too I found out later. He jerked the cart backwards which caused Makai, who was climbing around, to lose his balance and tumble out onto the concrete floor. With many witnesses I might add. I had a lady loudly comment for my benefit that that is the very reason she leaves her kids at daycare while she shops. Poor kids. Makai is fine and will recover from the bump on the head. I cannot say the same for that poor ladies children who are stuck in day care. Enough said.
I am in a creating frenzie trying to get ready for Christmas. Making cards, blankets, pajamas, pillow cases and gifts of all varieties. It's fun to feel creative. It's fun to make things and I enjoy working on projects. I have way too many going on right now. But better than being bored right? Well, motherhood awaits and the troops must be fed. Tata!

Terrible Twos
I have never really had a child that went through the terrible twos. It has always been my favorite age. Learning to talk, play and explore. Makai has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase, however. Just today I have found him eating toothpaste on the bathroom counter, shoving puzzle pieces down the heat vent and trying to cut himself a piece of bread with my giant bread knife. He is fiercely independent and stubborn. He is two going on twenty. I just hope we both survive this phase. If he wasn't so darn cute I might have given him away long ago.

Trouble Sleeping
It seems to be off and on lately that I have trouble sleeping. Emotional upheaval during the day usually means sleepless nights. So instead of staring at the clock and hating it I decided to blog. I must not be the only one who isn't in bed yet. I just got an email from my sister-in-law announcing that they are expecting another baby. YEA! for them. Totally excited about that. Babies are great. I should know, I have had five. My baby is two now and causing much grief lately. He is into everything all the time. Not that this is unexpected, but he seems busier than my first four. Amazing I know, but somehow he creates disaster wherever he goes. He learned to open the refrigerator the other day!! What am I going to do now? I caught him today standing on a chair at the kitchen counter cutting open a package of lidocaine jelly he kifed from my husbands bag in our bedroom. Not sure how he managed to find it and push a chair up to the kitchen counter and find the scissors in the cupboard, let alone how he opened the bedroom door in the first place. All this while I ran downstairs to put a few things away in the storage room. Nap time could not come fast enough today.
I really wanted to get up and run in the morning but as 1 am is fast approaching, I doubt I will be getting up at 6. Here's to getting to sleep before then!! Good night!
